Privacy policy

Verda stores scan history, favorites, onboarding status and language preferences locally. Its optional home-screen widget stores the last rated product in local shared app storage. Verda does not require or provide a user account and does not operate a cloud database for your scan library. The free version includes advertising as described below. Device backups may include local app data according to your device settings.
Product requests and images
Looking up a product sends its barcode to Open Food Facts and, when needed, Open Beauty Facts. Product-name searches send the entered search words to Open Food Facts. Alternative requests send category information to Open Food Facts. These requests use HTTPS. Catalog and image servers also receive network information such as your IP address and request headers. Their privacy policy states that visitor IP addresses and logs are retained for three years for security, technical analysis and popularity measurement. This policy covers both Open Food Facts and Open Beauty Facts. Verda does not send an account identifier or advertising identifier with catalog requests.

Camera
Camera access reads barcodes on your device. Verda does not record or upload camera photographs, video or audio. Manual barcode entry works without camera permission.
Advertising and consent
The free version uses Google AdMob to display persistent banner ads, clearly labeled ads within results and history, and occasional full-screen image or video ads at natural transitions. Google may receive your IP address (including an approximate location inferred from it), app or device identifiers, ad impressions and interactions, app interactions, crash reports, performance information and other diagnostics. This supports ad delivery and measurement, analytics, security and fraud prevention. Verda does not pass scan history, favorites, camera images, barcode digits, product names or catalog search words to AdMob as custom ad-targeting parameters.
Where required, Google's User Messaging Platform presents privacy choices before ads are requested. After advertising is permitted, Verda asks for Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission. If you allow tracking, Google may use Apple's advertising identifier and related data to provide and measure personalized advertising across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you decline or tracking is restricted, Verda continues to request non-personalized ads and does not use the advertising identifier for tracking. Declining tracking does not disable ads or prevent barcode lookups.
You can change tracking permission in iOS Settings and revisit available Google consent choices through Ad privacy choices in Verda Settings. Ad availability depends on your choices, region and applicable requirements. Google processes and retains advertising information according to its own policies and the settings that apply to your device and consent. Verda does not control Google's retention periods. Read Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Lifetime purchase
The optional lifetime pass removes advertising. Apple processes the payment through the App Store. Verda reads the purchase entitlement through StoreKit on your device to unlock ad removal and restore a previous purchase. We do not receive your payment card details, Apple Account password or billing address, and do not send your purchase receipt to a developer-operated server. Apple handles transaction records under Apple's privacy policy. Use Restore purchases with the Apple Account used for the original purchase. Removing the app does not cancel the lifetime purchase or erase Apple's transaction records.
Your choices and retention
History is capped at the 100 most recent rated products. Clear history within the History tab. Remove favorites with the heart button. These actions do not remove the widget’s last-rated-product summary. Removing the app and its widget removes their active local storage; device backups are managed separately in your device settings. Verda does not synchronize this library to its own server. Advertising and tracking choices are managed separately through Verda Settings, iOS Settings and Google's consent controls; clearing local history does not reset those platform or provider choices.
Support messages
If you email support, your email address and message are received through Gmail to respond to your request. They are kept only as needed to handle the request and maintain necessary support records. You may request deletion by emailing the same address. Do not include sensitive health information.
